How to check who does the work
The short answer
In Florida, practicing dentistry without an appropriate, active license is prohibited [S1]. You can check a license yourself, with no login, on the Florida Department of Health's online License Verification lookup [S2][S7]. Miami Smile Works does not list, rank, recommend, or refer dentists; it gives you the checklist, and the lookup does the rest.

What this is and is not
This is a checklist, not a directory or a referral. We don't name anyone.
What actually changes the decision
- An active Florida license. The Florida Board of Dentistry says the state does not have reciprocity with any state and does not issue licenses by endorsement or credentials [S3]. Florida.
- Remote care. Florida's out-of-state telehealth registration is for health care practitioners licensed outside of Florida only [S4]. Florida.
- Who touches your teeth. In Florida, placing an appliance or structure in the human mouth is part of the legal definition of dentistry [S5]. Florida.
- Complaints. The Florida Board of Dentistry's site links to File A Complaint [S6]. Florida.
- What the lookup shows. A License Verification result shows a header with the name, license number and "Data As Of" date, and tabs named Licensee Information, Secondary Locations, and Discipline/Admin Actions [S7]. Florida.

Questions to ask a licensed dentist
- Are you licensed in Florida? (Then check it yourself on the lookup above [S2].)
- Who will do each part of the work: you, another dentist, a hygienist?
- If anything happens remotely, who examines me in person, and are they licensed in Florida? [S4]
- Which lab makes the veneer, crown or tooth, and where is it?
- For an implant: which brand and model of system? (The FDA suggests keeping this for your records [S8].)
Take these to a licensed dentist. Only a dentist who examines you can diagnose.
